This is one of the class of 2010, a regular visitor to Rock HQ, Biffer, who will be two years old soon, but his owners are taking him on holiday so wont be around for the clan's birthday so they sent in an early birthday wish.

Spotty our perfectly formed handsome Berner (available to selected ladies, as are Rocky and Reuben) is a happy Berner at Rock HQ but he very nearly didn't live here, no, he was sold along with the majority of the class of 2009 aged 9 weeks. Here he is on the slope of the Bonsai Mountain, sat in front of Boo Boo or Reuben (all Berners have at least two names) both blowing hard as we, or rather I, train for the BBMC. Again.

Spotty, who was named Rocky (not to be confused with our Rocky) by his new owners was gifted back to us when they were sent to Dubai to work and after much soul searching decided that the sunshine of the desert was no place for a Berner, no matter how good the air conditioning.

Mind you, just lately we have been bathed in glorious sunshine and it looks like its set to continue for another few days. The temperature is more like the norm for June. No wonder these lads are hot dogs!

Happy Birthday class of 2009

Its the Birthday of the class of 2009, we are lucky enough to have had all the owners keep in touch except for Flash who we haven't heard from in a long time. We know he is well cared for though. Spot, Bliss and Dotty are celebrating here with Jaffa cakes. Fish is now Fizz and has her own web pages and does well in the show ring. Rocky II is HPD or Harvey Puppy Dog and his pic is right at the bottom of this posting taken today and sent in by Mel his owner.

Bringing up the rear

Aunt Montana seems a bit better but we have decided she needs to go back to the vet, not because she has got slower on the circuit of the Bonsai Mountain, after all she has been known to sneak off back to the cottage when she thinks I am not paying attention, no, shes going back because her bark has changed. Its always been a deep loud powerful bark, which is code for annoying, but its developed into a high pitched whiny squeak type bark which just isn't right. Shes still playing the sympathy card managing to eat my dinner tonight without a telling off, seems pizza is her favourite too!

Over the hills and far away

Reuben our youngest Berner, nearly two years old, has been a bit of a woosey in the mountaineer dept having only sampled the delights of the Bonsai Mountain, whereas Spotty and Rocky have made regular trips to fully fledged peaks. Things changed today, this tired Berner above is enjoying five minutes break, behind and to the right you can just make our X marks the spot, thats Rock HQ. Click on the images to supersize them.

Dont be fooled by the coat, it was baking hot, over 18 degrees which is pretty warm for March in Wales. The coat was needed to prevent sunburn! Booboo felt the need to strech out and catch some rays.

Reuben had a great day out, even better he got back in time to watch England stuff France in the 6 Nations. He is now sound asleep.

Power lifter

Spotty took his weight lifting to a new level today lifting this piece of old oak from the wreckage of the almost barn,



He seemed intent on taking up to his pile of planks, brooms, garden tools, logs and other treasures on the bonsai mountain. A couple of things got in his way, a small shitland pony for one!



Tired out he gives up on the idea, thinks about taking a house brick before opting for a much more manageable mouthful!

More than a feeling

Aunt Montana is almost back to normal after yesterday dramas, she rattles as she moves due to the high number of pills she is having to be fed wrapped up in sliced ham but at least she is on the road to recovery.

Sick as a dog

This grand old Berner gave us a real scare today, Aunt Montana our long term foster dog was desperately ill this morning, so ill that when she was at the vet she just lay still and didnt move at all when examined, shaved, jabbed and poked.
